How to Host a Superb Kid Birthday Party!

by: Martyn Purdy

How do you plan a children’s birthday party... and still remain sane?

Relax, don’t panic and keep it as simple as possible is the answer.

Kids don’t care if the room has been vacuumed and cleaned. Think about it for a moment, kid's will make the tidiest of room’s look like a disaster zone within minutes of turning up. They won’t care whether the table napkins match or what time it is!... all they will want to do is have fun, play games and eat lots of goodies!

So, what’s the best way to ensure that your child's birthday party is one to remember? (at least until the next party invitation arrives!)

Firstly, take a little time to think about the party theme. Will it be an outing to the local burger house, a trip to an amusement park or will you have a theme party at home. With sufficient forward planning, you won’t be losing any sleep worrying about the party.

Make a list of who is coming to the party? The general rule of thumb is to invite as many guests as you feel comfortable catering for.

Ask the birthday child what they would like to do. Don’t be tempted to pressure them into having the sort of party YOU would like... it is their special day after all! Once you have decided on a theme, then the party activities to keep the kids happy become a priority. Many traditional games can be adapted to fit just about any party theme.

If the party is to at the local restaurant, go along and speak to the manager to agree the food menu and leave the rest to them. An outing to the amusement park or zoo may require additional party planning, with transport being just one item needing consideration. Many of these venues have party facilities available so all you need to provide is the children and a credit card to pay the bill.

If the party is to be at home, then selecting a theme can be fun. Whether it’s Pirates, Finding Nemo or Dora the Explorer... this is your opportunity to get creative!

With so many character theme party goods available, the choice is endless. If you’re planning to hold the party outdoors, it would be a good idea to have at least one room inside your home decorated, in case of rain. Try to limit the party activities to pre-designated party areas (as much as possible), so you are able to relax and enjoy the party without worrying about the mess being made.

Ok, it’s now time to get ready for the party! You’ve decided on the party theme and how many guests will be invited... Now the preparations and fun begin!

Don’t forget to keep your birthday kid involved whenever possible. Get them to suggest party game ideas, then choose the decorations and food together. Feeling relaxed? Hope so, because organizing a kid birthday party should be fun for everyone!

Allocate a budget for the party and decide whether you hire a professional entertainer or enlist the help of friends and neighbors? Don’t be afraid to ask a friend to help clear empty dishes, run a game or two and even take the some party photos.

Set a time for the party. Two or three hours should be plenty of time. If the children are under 5 years old, then one and half hours should be time enough. One great tip is to hold a toddler party in the morning, as youngsters tend to get a bit “cranky” when they get tired!

Plan your party games in 15-20 minute intervals. If you find the kids are happy playing a particular game let them carry on... why spoil their fun? On the other hand plan more activities than you think you will need. Some games may be greeted with a “groan” and you may well need to play another game sooner than you expected.

Send out your birthday party invitations 2 to 3 weeks in advance of the party date, then make a follow-up confirmation phone calls after about a week. People tend to be very busy nowadays and a small invitation can get easily forgotten, usually under a mountain of junk-mail!

Don’t spend more time or energy than necessary on things that don’t really matter. When organising the party food keep snacks plain and simple. Remember that kids love eating food with their fingers and your party day could be a great day to let them do just that!

Buy an undecorated cake from your local baker and decorate it yourself, making a terrific party theme cake... or get the bakers to make a completely finished themed birthday cake!

Finally, imagine that the big day is here and your first guest arrives for your child’s birthday party. Stay calm, keep a good sense of humor and enjoy the precious party time with your guests. Above all, keep the party flowing and let the children set the pace.

You will look back afterwards, when flicking through your fabulous party photo’s, with the immortal words... “It was well worth the effort”

Jewelry For Birthdays-How To Buy The Perfect Gift At A Fair Price

by: Sam Serio

Jewelry is the perfect gift for friends and loved ones at any stage in life. However the jewelry buying process can be a little tricky. Here are some hints for buying the perfect jewelry birthday gift at a great price.

1. There’s a big difference between 14 karat gold and gold-plated jewelry. Fourteen karat (14K) jewelry contains 14 parts of gold, mixed in throughout with 10 parts of base metal. Gold-plated describes jewelry with a layer of at least 10K gold bonded to a base metal. Gold plating eventually wears away, depending on how often the item is worn and how thick the plating is.

2. If you’re buying a watch, determine whether you want one that runs on a battery or one that must be wound daily. Ask if a warranty or guarantee is included, how long it lasts, and what parts and repair problems it covers. Also ask how and where you can get the watch serviced and repaired.

3. Know the difference between laboratory-created gemstones and naturally mined stones. Stones created in the lab are visually identical to stones mined from the earth. The big difference is in the cost: laboratory-created stones are less expensive then naturally mined stones. But because they look much like stones mined from the earth, they must be identified as lab-created. If you want a naturally mined stone, ask if it has been treated. Gemstone treatments– such as heating, dyeing or bleaching– can improve a stone’s appearance or durability. Some treatments are permanent; some may create special care requirements. Treatments also may affect the stone’s value.

4. Ask whether pearls are imitation or real. Real pearls are made by oysters or other mollusks; imitation pearls are man-made. Cultured pearls are made by mollusks with human intervention; and irritant introduced into their shells causes a pearl to grow. Real pearls that are not cultured are fairly rare and expensive. The cost depends on the size, usually stated in millimeters, and the coating or “nacre” on a real pearl, which gives it its iridescence.

5. When you’re buying a diamond, consider four criteria: cut, color, clarity and weight, usually stated as carats. Each factor affects the price. Color is sometimes “graded” on a scale. However, scales are not uniform: a “D” may be the best color for one scale, but not for another. Make sure you know how a particular scale and grade represent the color of the diamond you’re considering. A diamond can be described as “flawless” only if it has no visible surface cracks or other imperfections when viewed under 10-power magnification by a skilled diamond grader.

6. Everybody is fascinated by their birthstones, here is a list of the commonly accepted birthstones for each month.

January Garnet-Dark Red
February Amethyst-Purple
March Aquamarine-Pale Blue
April Diamond-Clear
May Emerald-Deep Green
June Pearl-Pearly White
July Ruby-Red
August Peridot-Light Green
September Sapphire-Deep Blue
October Opal-Multicolor
November Citrine-Yellow
December Blue Topaz-Blue

40th Birthday Party Ideas For a Sensational Celebration

by: Dee Schrock

Is a 40th birthday party coming up and you're at a loss for ideas? Here are a few tips and ideas to help you get started.

You can create your own invitations by drawing 40th birthday theme such as "40" or over-the-hill gag themes.

A great themed 40th birthday party is 70's memorabilia. Have beanbag chairs handy for a groovy gathering. Share old stories about the guest of honor.

Wear bell-bottom Levi's or Wranglers or go all out with your leisure suit. Feather your hair like Farrah Fawcett or Andy Gibb.

Have the guest of honor wear a birthday crown or Happy Birthday hat. Be sure to complement their outfit with an "over-the-hill" cane.

What should you serve? Have a table with punch, both spiked and plain. Foods can be easy finger foods, such as chips and dip, veggies, and cheese and crackers. If you want to put in a bit of extra effort, offer sundaes or create a soda fountain in the corner of the room. Serve your food of choice on these tie-dyed party plates and tableware. Drinks can be served in psychedelic light up glasses.

An easy choice of games is to play a game of 70's trivia. There are several available including Trivial Pursuit 70s/80s editions.

Play clips from 70's TV shows or movies and competing teams guess first what movie/show the song was from.

70's karaoke is lots of fun and gets everyone laughing.

Complete the night with Saturday Night Fever karaoke and disco contests. Happy 40th!

Kids Birthday Cakes - How to Easily Turn Them Into Theme Cakes

by: Cristy Smith

Kids birthday cakes can create wonder and amazement. It is just plain fun to watch a child's expression when they see a birthday cake that has been made to look like their favorite character or theme. A cake that has been made especially for them with care and creativity. There are several ways you can create themed kids birthday cakes. Depending on your skill level, some may be more appealing to you than others. Here are some different ways you can make terrific looking theme cakes.

The most obvious way is to use a specially shaped cake pan. There are several specially shaped pans to match most of the themes that are currently popular. This will enable you to bake a cake in the exact shape that you need so that all you have to do is decorate the cake. It is possible though that your child may want a unique party theme for which there is no specially shaped cake pan available. In this instance you are going to have to find another alternative.

One alternative is to create the character yourself by baking an ordinary sheet cake and drawing the character or shape that you want on the cake with icing. Then cut away the cake from the outline of your character. Since you are drawing on your cake with icing, you are free to wipe it off and start over as many times as you need to until you are satisfied with your image. The cut away pieces can also be used to help create your shape or add dimension to areas of your cake.

Yet another way that you can create fantastic looking kids birthday cakes is to use cake toppers or edible cake art images to match your party theme. Cake toppers are usually made from plastic and can be set on top of your cake. When you are finished with your cake, they are often times reusable and can be used on another cake. Edible cake art images are also placed on top of the cake, but are as the name indicates "edible" so they do not need to be removed from the cake prior to eating it. Both of these alternatives can be used with sheet cakes or round cakes and are probably the easiest alternative. However, they will still give you that great looking cake that will be sure to bring amazement and delight to all of the kids at your party.

No matter which method you choose, kids will be thrilled that you made them a special cake to match their party theme or favorite character. The excitement of the birthday child when he or she sees the cake will be worth the extra effort you put forth in making those themed kids birthday cakes.

Children's Birthday Parties - A Timeline For A Great Event!

by: Annette Yen

Having the best children's birthday party shouldn't be a stressful thing. Follow the timeline below and your child and you will be the hit of the neighborhood.

About a month before your party you'll want to:

Talk with your child and choose a party theme and/or decide what your “entertainment” will be for the party. This will help you determine your party budget as well.

Create the guest list. Don't forget to include friends from school, the neighborhood as well as relatives and more distant friends.

Choose a party date and time. Most children's birthday parties are generally one to two hours long.

Order the general party supplies: tablecloth, tableware, decorations, etc.

Think about games. Keep the ages and personalities of the children as you plan your activities. And sometimes shorter and simpler parties with one fun activity are best and least stressful.

Two weeks prior to the party make sure you:

Decide on your menu. Are you just having cake and ice cream? Is the party at a mealtime and do you need to order pizzas or are you cooking yourself, etc.?

Mail the invitations. You will probably need to call everyone that doesn’t RSVP. People will forget and will appreciate the reminder call

Ask for help. If you think you might need some help for party day, ask a couple of the moms of the kids who are invited to stay and help. Most people would love to, you just need to ask.

One week before party day you should:

Bake your cake and freeze it. Knowing the cake is done will be such a stress reliever on the big day!

Prepare and freeze any other foods that can be made in advance.

Get an exact guest count. Call any guests who have not responded.

Two days before the party don't forget to:

Get any last minute food items and don't forget candles, matches and FILM!

Check your batteries in your camera and video recorder.

Purchase a small helium tank from your local party or craft store. It's a great thing to keep your children busy the morning of the party too!

Make up a party timeline for the party day so you don't forget anything.

One day before the party remember to:

Take out food and cake from the freezer.

Do any decorating that you can do in advance

Finish any food preparation that can be done ahead of time.

On the morning of the party day make sure to:

Fill your balloons with helium.

Prepare any foods and beverages that could not be made ahead of time.

Write out your timeline for the day so you don’t forget anything.

You don't want to miss out on the memories you'll have with the pictures, so ask a relative or trusted friend to be responsible for the picture taking.

Relax and enjoy this great day. And then get ready for next year!

Design Tips for a Great Kids Birthday Cake

by: Stephen Houlihan

These days, you can probably buy just about any style of child’s birthday cake already made. But there is nothing like the sense of satisfaction from making that special cake just for your child – after all, they have each birthday only once!

There’s also the benefit of being able to control what ingredients are actually used in making the cake. Apart from producing a healthier cake, you can also cater for any allergies that your child or his/her friends may have.

Once you have decided to make the cake yourself, here are some tips to help you:

1. Don’t worry if you failed Art 101 dismally. Remember that kids don’t expect you to turn out a design worthy of da Vinci. Often they are more interested in the number (and color) of pieces of candy on top of the cake than the actual design itself.

2. In selecting a design for the cake, there are two main options: a specific design (such as a favorite character from a TV program), or a more generic theme (such as a train or an animal). Whichever you choose, remember that it will be much easier if you only cut the cake to the basic shape you want, and use the icing to create the detail of the design. Trying to make the Eiffel Tower out of cut pieces of sponge cake is a definite no-no!

3. The actual cake recipe should be kept simple, such as a basic sponge cake. Remember, the icing and candy decorations will give the cake plenty of flavor, and a plain cake recipe will appeal to a wider range of kids’ tastes.

4. Be especially careful to cater for any allergies. Even if you are not aware of any allergies amongst the party attendees, it is best to avoid using any products containing nuts. Read the packages of the cake ingredients carefully.

5. It is best to make the cake the day before the party. Apart from making the day of the party less stressful, you will find that the cake will be easier to cut. If the cake is too fresh, crumbs tend to stick to the icing and can make the cut pieces look pretty messy.

6. When choosing the icing, think about how messy it will be to eat – your friends won’t be too pleased with you if their kids end up with permanently-stained clothes from your brightly-colored strawberry icing!

7. When actually making the icing, you may have to tweak the recipe to allow for the weather. For hot climates, you may have to add more icing powder/sugar to thicken it up; for cold days, you don’t want the icing to set as hard as rock.

8. If you are going to use an icing decorating bag and tips to draw your design on the cake, have a practice first on a plate. You’ll surprise yourself with what you can do!

9. If you are totally artistically challenged, there are many companies who supply ready-made decorations that you can use on the cake. You can even buy a lot of these over the internet, and you can find a list of some major suppliers at www.cakemagician.com/suppliers.htm.

Finally, remember to HAVE FUN when you make the cake! It may seem quite a lot of effort, but the happy smile on your child’s face when they see the cake will reward you immensely.

Top 10 Most Popular Kid Birthday Party Ideas

by: Dee Schrock

Do you have a kids birthday party coming up and are at a loss for ideas?

I've picked out the most popular party themes for boys and girls, sure to make your planning much easier!

1. Barbie Birthday Party

Barbie, girl’s best friend, inspired young girls for decades. She and her friends are still the life of the party even today!

2. Batman Birthday Party

Batman lives! As long as he continues in the hearts of those little caped crusaders and the parties go on and on, he never dies. Batman is eternal—and so are his parties - a Batman and Robin party is a real “smash” for little caped crusaders who like excitement and fun.

3. Care Bear Party

Whether it is Cheer Bear or Bedtime bear, the Care Bears are always a wonderful addition to any child’s birthday party, especially girls. They are bright, lovable, fun, and cheerful, and always leave children and adults happy.

4. Birthday Construction Party

The obvious decorative eye-catcher is having your home strung in “caution” tape, along with flashing safety lights. This will add a dramatic effect and will be a fun setting for children to play. The boys can wear their hard hats as they play in the construction site you have created.

5. Disney Princess Party

No decoration is more elegant for a Disney Princess birthday party than a grand castle. Swirls of light-colored streamers adorn the grand ballroom. You can have the basement made up to look like the inside of a medieval castle with painted wooden or cardboard sets.

6. Dora the Explorer Party

Dora the Explorer is a girl who loves to search, discover, and learn about and share with others. A Dora the Explorer party, then, should be fun as well as cultural and educational.

7. Hello Kitty Party

Hello Kitty likes her tea parties, her scrumptious sweets, and her crafts. At a Hello Kitty party, you can have plenty of all three!

8. Incredibles Party

The Incredibles were a super hero family forced out of action, but now they’re back! But it isn’t what they thought it would be. A whole new kind of adventure begins! An Incredibles party can be just as on-the-edge as the story. Let the excitement fly!

9. Spider Man Party

Spiderman spins a web and has captured the imagination of people for decades. He still keeps kids cheering even today. A Spiderman party will keep the kids entranced right from the get-go!

10. Spongebob Party

The decorations for a SpongeBob party should follow SpongeBob’s locale, namely the town of Bikini Bottom. Underwater motifs and imagery will place the kids in SpongeBob’s world, if even only for a couple of hours.

I hope these ideas helped spark some ideas for your upcoming kids birthday party. Have a sensational celebration!

Birthday Party Recipes - 5 Tips For The Perfect Princess Party Menu

by: Annette Yen

You're ready... your princess has invited the belles of the ball to the finest Princess Birthday Party of the year. You've purchased decorations, planned a few games and have some lovely take home gifts for your guests. Now it's time to plan the finest menu for your royal princess and her court. Let's make it so fabulous that the girls will remember this day when they're planning their future daughter's parties and one that will make your princess throw her hands around your neck and say, "Oh mom! You're the best ever!"

What follows are 5 tips for you in creating the menu of the decade for your princess birthday party.

1. Keep it simple. The last thing you need on a busy day is for you to be running around like crazy trying to make cherries flambé or tiramisu with crème fraise. However, with a little creative planning, you can make something spectacular and still be able to take photos of the lovely girls eating your birthday dainties. There are SO many recipes available at your fingertips that are not only delicious but easy to make with items you probably have in the house or can pick up in your local grocery store at minimal cost (another key!). One of my favorite recipe sites for quick recipes is http://www.freequickrecipes.com, or you can just punch a name of a recipe into your google search box and hundreds of recipes will pop up. Just keep it simple!

2. Presentation is everything. Think about it, mom. A peanut butter sandwich is nice, but, make that sandwich and cut it with petite cookie cutters into various princessly shapes and you have something spectacular. Even just cutting the sandwiches with a glass into a circle and then cutting the circles in half would work. Display them nicely on a glass plate with some red grapes or flowers and it's no longer just a boring sandwich but a delicacy that's a delight to look at AND eat.

3. Throw the "no sugar" rule out the window. Ok, I'll get hate mail for this one but c'mon mom! Your princess only has the bash of the century once a year, so break the rules a little and provide something sweet to eat. Balance it out with a lower sugar drink and other dainties that aren't sugar laden.

4. Make the drink pink! Pink lemonade, pink Kool-Aid, pink soda... anything pink in a clear plastic cup and you'll be the coolest mom on the block. Float a half of a strawberry in the cup and you may as well get a revolving door to your house. You'll be the hit of the neighborhood!

5. Work with a timeline and schedule for the day of the party. A checklist of what you'll be serving and when you need to pull it out of the freezer or fridge, what goes where, etc., and how long each thing takes will insure that you won't forget any of the details and insure that you won't go to open the fridge for a late night snack after your princess is in dream land and see the strawberries that you meant to put in the royal goblets.

The perfect, stress free Princess party menu is within reach, Mom. Just keep it simple, fancy, tasty and pink! Write out a checklist and you're all set for the finest party menu for your princess and her royal maidens.

Fun Baked Birthday Treats

by: Susanne Myers

The traditional birthday cake isn’t the only yummy option you have when it comes to baked goods for your child’s birthday party. We have come up with some other ideas that are more than just a substitute for a birthday cake. They are creative, delicious and just plain different.

Decorate A Cookie

·Sugar Cookie Dough
·Cookie Cutters
·Wax Paper
·Confectioner’s Sugar
·Water
·Food Coloring
·Assorted candies
·Colored Sugar (different colors)
·Sprinkles

Prepare a batch of your favorite cookie dough, or purchase some refrigerated sugar dough. Roll it out and place it on the wax paper. Let the kids cut out cookies using the cookie cutter, then bake them according to the baking instructions for your dough.

Allow the cookies do cool. Prepare “Glue” by mixing the confectioner’s sugar with water to form a sticky paste. You can add food coloring to turn it into different colors. The kids can paint the cookies with this glue, then add candies sprinkles and colored sugar.

Allow them to dry and either let the kids eat them at the party, or place them in plastic bags so they can take them home after the party.

Magic Wands

·Refrigerated Sugar Cookie Dough
·Star Cookie Cutter
·Popsicle Stick
·Confectioners’ Sugar
·Hot Water
·Food Coloring

Roll out the sugar cookie dough and cut using a star-shaped cookie cutter; bake according to package instructions.

As soon as the cookies come out of the oven, and are still soft to the touch, carefully push a Popsicle stick between any two points of the star. This makes the handle for your wand.

Frost the cookies with glossy icing. To make glossy icing, simply sift confectioners' sugar into a bowl. Slowly add hot water, while mixing, until it becomes a smooth paste. Add a few drops of food coloring to make extra colorful treats. These wand cookies are somewhat fragile, but they're delicious and a lot of fun to eat!

Dessert Pizza

·Sugar cookie dough, store bought
·8-ounce package cream cheese, at room temperature
·1 cup sugar
·1 teaspoon vanilla
·Fruit slices like banana, strawberries, apples and blueberries
·Greased cookie sheet or pizza pan

Pre-heat the oven to 350 degrees.
Slice up the dough like you're making cookies.

Press the dough into a pizza pan. You should end up with thin, sweet pizza dough. Bake it for about 8 minutes and cool it on a rack.

Combine the sugar, vanilla and softened cream cheese. Spread it all over you pizza crust.

Top with the fruit slices.

There you have it … Three fun baked treats that not only make a great addition to any birthday party, whether you are serving cake or not. They are also a fun activity for the kids during the party. Give one of these a try at the next child birthday party you throw.

10 Great Ideas For A Baby’s First Birthday

by: Roy Dietelzieg

A baby’s first birthday is a memorable event filled with fun and joy for family and friends. The growth and development of a young child takes place too fast, so take special thought and planning for such a major event to make it memorable for years to come.

Here are ten tips for your baby’s first birthday party to make the event a fun time for everyone and help your family cherish the event for many years:

•Plan The Big Day – Plan the event at a time that is best for your child to avoid missing nap time as it leads to a fussy child. Remember that the little friends at the party also have a short attention span, so keep the party and games limited to an hour or two.

•Send Fun Invitations – Do your best to make the invitations fun and interesting. Try turning a baby picture into a puzzle, each guest receiving a piece. As the guests arrive, the puzzle comes together for a complete picture. Have extra pieces in case a guest cannot make it!

•Have a Party Theme – Decorate your home with a specific party theme. Online party stores will have plenty of decorations for just about any theme you can think of, from Winnie the Pooh to Sesame Street.

•Have a One-Year Scrapbook – Put together a scrap-book of the “Baby’s Firsts” from the day you brought the baby home, the baby’s first Christmas right up to the baby’s first birthday. Everyone will have the opportunity to see how much your child has grown.

•Play Fun Games – Have games planned so that the adults can assist the youngsters by creating “baby artwork” or rolling a soft ball to have lots of fun.

•Provide Food – What’s a party without the food? Try to have snacks for the adults to enjoy while also having plenty of food suitable for the young birthday child and guests. Cake is a must and it is usually best to have two different cakes, one for the babies to smash and make a mess and one for the adults.

•Make Memories – Take plenty of pictures and feel free to record every moment of your child’s party. Photos can include the party’s events, your baby’s room and toys and even the cake remains. Just remember that you can’t take too many pictures!

•Make a Post-Birthday Scrapbook – Put everything in your child’s scrapbook that will help remember the fun times at the party. Place your photos in chronological order. Even save a napkin or party invitation to make it special.

•Make a DVD – With the wonderful world of technology at your fingertips, you can now put together a special photo parade of the day’s pictures or you can even turn your videos into a DVD keepsake that will make the memories last for everyone.

•Send Thank You Notes – When you send thank you notes to the guests, include a fun picture of the baby with cake all over his or her face or your DVD. This is a gift that everyone will cherish for years.

Kid Birthday Party Invitations - 12 Things You Must Include

by: Mike Dougherty

Why do you send birthday party invitations?

Do YOUR invitations get people to your party?

If you're like most people, when you send out invitations for your child's upcoming birthday party, you worry (at least a little) that no one will show up.

And if no one shows up for your child's special day, your child's heart will be broken. And that's not a fun way to spend your birthday.

Why do we send invitations?

This may seem like a silly question, but it isn't. We really have to understand the goal if we ever hope to accomplish the goal.

And the goal of a birthday party invitation is?

To get everyone that's invited to attend your party!

Sounds simple enough. But who are we inviting? Well for your child's birthday, you're inviting their friends. And their friends are children.

And how do you invite those children? By sending a birthday invitation to them by way of their parents.

So how do you get the parents of the children you've invited to make sure their children go to your party?

The secret to success is the information in your invitations.

You'd be surprised how often people make simple mistakes on their invitation by forgetting to include all the information parents need.

Make it EASY for them to RSVP and have their children at your party.

Kid Birthday Party Invitations - Your number one priority

Get your invitations out early

In this fast-paced world of ours, where family and kid's activities have everyone (including you) going in 6 different directions at once, you HAVE to give folks time to put this important event on their calendars.

What Information You Must Include

Tell them it's a birthday party

The invitation headline should tell them it's a kid birthday party invitation.

Give them your child's FIRST and LAST NAME

If you just use your child's first name, they may have another friend with the same name, so make it easy for them by using your child's first and last name.

Mention how old your child will be

This is very helpful for anyone that wants to get your child a birthday gift.

Give the DAY and DATE of your party

Make it easy for the other parents to check their own calendars.

The TIME YOUR PARTY STARTS

Is your party before, during or after lunch?

The TIME YOUR PARTY ENDS

This is very important for a number of reasons. By stating what time your party ends, you will avoid being stuck with a house full of kids bouncing off your walls, waiting for a parent to pick them up (and rescue you).

Party Location

Where is your party going to be? At your home, a local park, restaurant, fire department, ball park or? And remember to include the street address, name of the street and apartment number. You should also include a simple map. If it's a location other than your home, include a contact phone number or your cell phone number.

What type of party is it?

Are having a theme party? What is your theme? Are your guests encouraged to wear theme related costumes?

Are you serving a meal, snacks, or just cake and ice cream?

Parents need to know if their child should have lunch before going to the party. Parents with children who are diabetic will need to let you know if they're child can have treats or not.

An RSVP phone number and when they must RSVP

If you really want parents to RSVP, you need to give them a deadline. State that they must RSVP by a certain date. If you're party is going to be in a restaurant, let them know, so they will understand that you have to give the restaurant the expected number of guests. Make sure you include an RSVP phone number.

Kid Birthday Party Invitations - Success!

And finally, about one week before your child's birthday party, pick up the phone and call each parent, ask them if they received the invitation and ask them if their child will be attending the party. This kind of "gentle reminder" will be appreciated and will help insure the best turn out for your child's party.

If you're like most people, when you send out invitations for your child's upcoming birthday party, you worry (at least a little) that no one will show up. But if you take just a little time to follow these simple guidelines, your kid birthday party invitations will be successful.

Have fun

What To Buy Your Girlfriend For Her Next Birthday?

by: Janette Vince

It’s time to buy your girlfriend a birthday present again and you’re still recovering from that look of disgust she gave you when she opened the present you gave her last year. This year, you promised, will be different.

You want to tell her how special she is to you, but you’ve already exhausted all your ‘great ideas’. The challenge of being a modern man who always knows what to buy for birthdays now just seems like an impossible ideal.

Your at your wit’s end trying to figure out the ideal gift and you can feel a sweat coming on just imagining those busy shopping centres on Saturday, as your mates are all out playing golf …

Ok, breathe and relax. Your worries are nearly over because by reading this article you are only a few minutes away from being armed with enough ideas to make sure you stay in her good books all year, plus you won’t have to go to any shopping centres.

Let’s clarify a few basics: chocolates and flowers are a bit passé on their own. Although she might be glad you remembered, they don't say much about you and your personality and there is the danger that you might have given her the same gift on another occasion, which means the gift has some but minimal impact.

You want her to feel special, right? Then stay away from clichés and avoid the last minute moment of madness of buying her flowers from the Petrol station. Give her something that will appeal to her interests, personality, likes, dislikes, hobbies, and passions.

One way to do this is to make a list. Think about some recent conversations with her and try to recall any hints she might have dropped.

Finding a perfect unique gift to fit people's personalities isn't always easy though you give yourself the best chance by using your time wisely and having a range of options and one way you can do this is to take a peak at websites that list fun and interesting gifts for her and have a range of ideas all under one roof.

Thankdarling.com offers a wide range of gifts just for her and by shopping online you can avoid the trauma of 5 hour shopping trips, moody shop assistants and traffic jams. You can do everything from the comfort of your own chair and search for her present online. You can do this by category or by ‘gift experiences’, and if you already know what you want to buy, you can do this by occasion, or simply by selecting ‘for her’.

Remember you are looking to buy a gift for her, so try and avoid getting distracted by all the latest boys toys for now. A day out paint balling and a radio-controlled helicopter might float your boat but as a gift for her? Probably a big no-no.

So to recap, draw up a list of her interests. Then think about what would suit her personality best. Is she artistic, adventurous, an animal lover, or a hopeless romantic? Once you have this sorted out you can choose from a variety of unique gift experiences for your significant other.

Here are 5 popular favourites that can make a memorable birthday for her:

You could treat her artistic taste buds to a Deluxe London Theatre Break with first rate theatre tickets, dinner and overnight stay in a 4-star hotel in the West End of London. Choose from a number of shows, such as Billy Elliott, Chicago, Evita, Les Miserables, Mamma Mia, Mary Poppins, Phantom of the Opera, The Producers, and many more. You can either relax in the hotel next morning or do some sightseeing before heading home after a relaxing break.

For some peaceful quiet time together in the sky in a hot air balloon flight available from 70 locations across the UK. You can fly above some of England’s most beautiful countryside, enjoy breath-taking views, take some fabulous aerial photos, and a drink glass of champagne each! A bonus includes assisting in the inflation and the deflation of the balloon if you wish.

If you’re considering gifting her a day of relaxation and self-indulgence, then go for the Special Pamper Spa Day voucher. This nationwide voucher offers at least two spa treatments at a choice of seven UK spas to spend the special day. You can spend hours together relaxing in steam and dry heat rooms, and wet areas including jacuzzi, spa baths, showers and therapeutic foot spas. In addition, you get refreshments on arrival and a scrumptious lunch at your chosen spa! You can also use other facilities such as the gym, relaxation classes and swimming pools.

You can also spend your day mingling with some perky meerkats at the wildlife park in Broxbourne, Hertfordshire. You can enter their enclosure with the keeper at feeding time and assist in feeding them. The friendly meerkats will enjoy taking treats from your hand, sitting in your lap, untying your shoelaces, and peeking in your pockets! You can also take along a few friends to take pictures of this unique experience!

If you’d like to gift your girlfriend a completely new pampering experience, then go for the Emerald Makeover Experience—complete with a fabulous array of beauty treatments including facial, manicure, and moisturising hand massage; high fashion photo shoot; and a complimentary glass of Bucks Fizz! Treat her to a memorable makeover by top make-up artists and hair stylists, and get professional photographs to remember the experience!

With gifts like these and many more like them you have no excuses not to woo and impress her on her birthday this year!

Why Do We Need Party Favors At Birthday Parties?

by: Melissa Fishman

When having your kids birthday party, you should choose to purchase personalized party favors. Like other parties, friends at the parties that come like to receive something for attending the party. When buying the birthday party favor for both adults and children or just for the kids, giving party gifts to everyone is a nice jesture. It is a thank you. It's a sign of admiration. When other guest see this, they will see the type of people you are and what good manners you have.

What about the purchase price?

If you as parents are giving a birthday party for their child, first you will need to think about a couple of choice. First, are the party favors which are for your kid's friend or will they be given to the adults that are attending the birthday party? if by chance you will be handing them to adults, bear in mind using a small statue, a picture frame which you can put your kid's photo in. Or, contemplate a candle with a cute theme. Giving a personalized party favor to a grown up should be done as well. Give a favor that is inexpensive, especially when you buy them in aggregate form. When purchasing favor you don't need to spend alot, but if you need to, go ahead.

Well, when giving a party favor to your child's friends, try to get everyone fun things. A small goody bag is great when its filled with kid safe things. Try not to go crazy on the candy but many party places will offer very small toys, cute games and great add ons to include with the favor. The kids will enjoy getting a gift from your child too.

If you are going to have a small get together with your immediate family you will not need to give a party favor. If you are throwing a extraordinary party, then consider one. This would be for their first birthday or possibly their fifth. when giving a large party where there might be a large population coming, then a party favor no matter what the age is essential, at least for proper manners.

Personalized Party Favors For Your Childs Birthday Party?

by: Melissa Fishman

When children have parties, you should get party favors for the birthday. Like other parties, guests that come to the birthday expect to receive some type of party favor. When buying the party favors for both adults and children or just for the kids, sending a special party favor home is nice. It is a way of saying thanks. It's a sign of appreciation. Of course not to mention that it is good manners.

How much should it cost?

If you are giving a party for you little one, you should think about many different things. First, are the personalized party favor for your child's friends or will they go to the adults that attend? if you are giving them to adults, consider using a small statue, a picture frame where you can insert the child's photograph into it. Or, imagine a candle with a cute theme. Giving a gift to your adult party goers should be done. When you give favor is should be worth the money, especially when you buy them in bulk form. When purchasing favor you don't need to spend alot, but if you need to, go ahead.

On the other hand, when giving a party favor to your child's friends, try to get everyone fun things. A minuscule goody bag is great when its filled with kid safe things. If you are going to add things don't go crazy on the candy but many party places will provide very small toys, cute games and great add ons to include with the favor. The kids will enjoy getting a gift from your child too.

When planning a small get together with your brother and sisters and other members of your family you you might not need a party favor. If you are throwing a extraordinary party, then consider one. This should be for the kids first birthday or possibly their fifth. when giving a large party where there might be a large population coming, then a party favor no matter what the age is essential, at least for proper manners.

Giving Unforgettable Birthday Gifts

by: Tzippi Moss

Big birthdays are great opportunities to get creative. Instead of buying a gift that may or may not be appreciated, you can show your love, care and appreciation in ways that will leave a lasting impression and cost little or no money.

I was recently talking to a friend of mine who had just celebrated a big birthday. He told me how people went all out on the gifts, sparing no expense. When I asked him what his favorite was, he said, "Oh, that's easy. No contest. It was the one from my daughter. She gathered pictures of both of us and made a big collage that she then had framed. On the wood frame, she painted 'I love you' with hearts and stars. That gift made me cry. None of the other store bought ones did."

That got me thinking. What were the best gifts I have ever received? One that immediately stands out is what my then 17 year old daughter did for me at my last birthday. She told me that I needed to give her a couple of days notice before she could give me her gift. She said that I would need to clear a few hours on my calendar and tell me what day I had chosen. That got me curious. I was sure she was planning on taking me somewhere. One morning, I told her I had cleared my calendar for the next day. The following morning, just before leaving for school, she dropped an envelope on the table. "Happy Birthday, Mom- don't open this until after I leave. I hope you like it."

I was surprised. What in the world could she have given me? I tore open the envelope. Inside was a page of yellow lined paper with the following message:

Dear Mom,

You have your present coming to you, but like the parties you throw for your friends, you have to work for it! That is why I am sending you on a treasure hunt! Make sure to follow instructions carefully. Your notes are small yellow or orange notes. If you have any problems, send me a SMS. Wear comfortable shoes.

Here's your first instruction. Go to….

P.S. If you had given me more advance notice, I would have had more time to prepare. Thanks a lot! :)

Oops. So much for my following her pre-gift instructions of giving her a couple of days warning. Anyway, my blooper didn’t keep her from planning an incredible tour of one of the historic areas in our city that I barely knew. I searched for notes that directed me to a hollow tree stump, to a certain sales person named Dan in a local bookstore and other hilarious instructions that entertained and taught me about hidden gems in my own home town. The different stops included historical information about what I was seeing, a coupon for a used book, and a gift certificate to buy myself some article of clothing at her favorite store, so I would stop borrowing her cool clothes.

Follow the tips below and you'll be remembered for unforgettable gifts as well.

- Give a gift that expresses your love loud and clear. My friend’s daughter’s gift stood out because of the effort she made to personalize her present and her clear message of love.

- Give an experience. My daughter’s gift scored big because she sent me on an adventure that I will never forget! The more novel or unusual the experience and the more it fits the person’s interests, the more memorable it will be.

- Give the gift of your time. Again, my daughter’s gift was a winner as it was clear how much effort she had gone to to surprise and delight me. My mother's favorite gift was a hand made book of coupons she received from her grandkids that could be redeemed for giving her a piano concert, baking cookies together and other activities where they spent time just with her.

- Know the celebrant's dreams and desires and help them come true. My husband knew how much I had wanted to go on a meditation retreat and for one of my birthdays he made all the arrangements so that could happen. I have never forgotten that present. If you can make someone's dream come true, you have given a gift beyond measure.

Organization Of Your Childs First Birthday Party

by: Melissa Fishman

It is intense to believe that a year has gone by. Sometimes it feels like it was only yesterday that you were carrying your baby home. All the forces are pointing in the right direction and you are ona a job to give your little lad or your sweet princess a birthday they won't forget. At there first birthday, children care for things like color and noise. Consider that this birthday party kids are to young to remember so take pictures and videos. With all this said here are some steps to bear in mind.

First choose the date, time and show. Determine about how many serveral people (adults versus kids) will be here and an appropriate venue for the party. One place you can have it is at home, outside is great. Larger venues work for lots of guests. Don't pick nap time or before as your baby probably will be very tired to enjoy his/her birthday party.

Choose invitations. Elect a theme that you can have fun with. Yet again, it's more about what you like here.

Mail invitations out and give at least three weeks in advance, if you can try to four weeks. Double-check to make a list the you can use to amount those people who have confirmed and call those people who have not contacted you.

Decorations! Now you can have fun and do alot with colors, themes and decorations. Balloons (Make sure no one chokes!) plastic forks and spoons, plates and banners will do just great.

Games. If parents bring additional children there, include quite a few fun games. If not, bear in mind a collage of pictures to amuse your visitors with.

Foods need to be easy to prepare, handle and eat. For just a few guests a full scale meal would be okay. Don't forget the cake.

Pictures. Many of the perfect things to do you think now is to take lots of pictures during your party. Plan to do this so that you enforce ample opportunity to share and for scrapbooking.

To make your child's first birthday esteemed, bear in mind hiring a professional planner to do you think the work for you!

Birthday Parties Aren’t Just Kids’ Business

by: Tzippi Moss

You don't need an excuse to celebrate, but if you or your friend’s birthday is around the corner, then take the time to create a party that is memorable and lasting with your close circle of friends. With a pinch of creativity, you can make some magical moments!

We all have them. Some of us anticipate them and others dread them terribly. Some make a big fuss over them and others try to avoid theirs like the plague. I'm talking about that event that commemorates our entry into the world - our birthdays.

Do you remember the days when you used to mark them by the quarter and half marks? Sure, back then time had a way of stretching almost endlessly.

Now time is calibrated by the beeps of our cell phones and alarm clocks and organized by palm pilots and Blackberries. Who ever named those devices knew that time flies, but did they forget it doesn’t just grow on trees? As we get older, time moves faster than a cheetah at a race-track. So celebrating life, and our lives, in particular becomes that much more important.

Over five years ago, a dear friend of mine was quite depressed. Both personal and world events were triggering her despair. She had just had a birthday, but it did nothing to lift her spirits. Family members didn’t do anything special, and most friends didn’t remember the day. She felt pretty miserable. More than anything she just wanted to get together with some good women friends and celebrate something, anything that would take her mind off of her dark thoughts. She suddenly remembered that I had a birthday coming up and that the antidote to her depression would be to throw me a party.

I gave her a list of some friends and she took care of the rest. The directions were pretty simple. No talking about work or family, and bring a creative activity to do with the group and a round food to share. "We're celebrating wholeness," my friend said. So we ate cherry tomatoes, chocolate truffles, tuna mousse in a round bowl, and grapes and melon balls. "We're celebrating Tzippi," my friend said.

So they wrote poems, sculpted with modeling clay, sang, and told stories that celebrated and poked fun at me. Mostly we laughed, and laughed a lot. And what we celebrated that night was not just my birthday but our ability to play the way we did when we were kids. In fact, it was even better than when we played as kids because as middle aged women we took less for granted, and that included the most precious commodity of all. "We’re celebrating life," my friend said, summing it all up.

We've been celebrating each others' ever since. Get together with some good friends and celebrate yours. Time doesn't grow on trees.
